Regular stretching allows us to move easier and to think and act without being restricted. This course is designed to stretch muscles, ligaments and tendons to make them stronger. Through the use of lengthening actions you should improve your posture by making the joints better supported and able to go through their full range of movements, while the muscles are better nourished from the increased blood supply. Stretching helps to add vitality and vigour thus helping relieving tension and stress. Sessions will begin with a warm up to prepare the muscle groups for the workout. It will continue with exercises to help improve body shape and the way you look and feel about yourself. Strength and toning exercises will be added to target the tummy, waist, and thighs. A cool down will end the session to make you feel good about yourself and more confident both mentally and physically. Please wear comfortable unrestrictive clothing. It is more beneficial to do the session in bare feet, but if there is a problem with this, lightweight shoes will be the best. Please try and bring a mat as the Centre has a limited supply.
The course will consist of easy dance routines to different rhythms. These routines are suitable for any age group from 19 to 90 to do. It is a fun class and not a serious dance class so no experience is necessary. Come along wearing easy fit clothes and soft shoes or trainers, but make sure that they are non slip ones. No equipment is needed, just a good sense of humour and the willingness to join in.
The exercise programme, as well as being fun, will help to strengthen bones and muscles; increase your flexibility which will help you to gain confidence and improve balance to prevent falls. The programme is adaptable for all levels and abilities and gives the opportunity to work at your own personal pace. Exercise leads to a brilliant feeling of wellbeing and gives you “the feel good factor”. The course will have a warm up session, an easy routine to increase the heart rate; body conditioning; stretching and cool down. At the end of the course you should feel more confident, have increased your flexibility and have a stronger body.
